What is the Importance of Fiber optics

In the agriculture industry, irrigation is important.  This form of early technology—and yes, it is considered a type of technology—helped to spread water underground in a way that would more efficiently and effectively water large plots of land. Obviously there are massive benefits to this, mostly in terms of expanding operations without taking on too much more risk for loss of crops.

Outside of farming, though, there are many other industries that use this philosophy.  Of course, most of these industries have nothing to do with the agriculture, but that is sometimes the true brilliance of technology: that you can find ways to adapt it to other applications.Image result for What is the Importance of Fiber optics

Fiber optics, for example, capitalizes on the philosophy of irrigation technology but, of course, has absolutely nothing to do with farming.  Primcables.com fiber optics is, basically, a system for transmitting information extremely quickly and effectively over large distances.  In this day and age, if you use a telephone or a computer there is a very good chance you are using fiber optics.

More specifically, a fiber optic cable sends beams of light across hundreds of thousands of miles of a glass or plastic tube. The beam of light carries coded information from one end of the cable to the other. As a matter of fact, this technology was first designed for use in the medical and—more specifically—the surgical fields.  Fiber optics, in face, was originally used in endoscopes, dating back at least fifty years.  This technology, basically, helps doctors to see better when they have to perform operations in small, dark areas.

Obviously, it is easy to see how useful this technology can be in both the medical field and the communication industry.

Today, fiber optics has been streamlined so they can carry massive amounts of information through very small tubes (and an electric current).  Basically, fiber optics take commands from a computer and translate them for storage on a laser beam—no, really—that is delivered through the cable to the other end.

As you can see, there are many kinds of cable that might take advantage of fiber optics technology.  Regardless, it is pretty easy to understand how important this technology has become to our society.
